HPS para enlucido de yeso

Tenessy HPS for Gypsum Plaster

Hydroxypropyl Starch Ether (HPS) is a modified starch-based additive designed to improve the performance of gypsum plaster and other drymix building materials. Made from natural polymeric starch through controlled etherification and physical modification, HPS offers excellent water retention, workability, and consistency.

In gypsum plaster formulations, HPS acts as a multifunctional additive that optimizes the setting time, prevents cracking, and enhances the smoothness of the final surface. It provides an ideal balance between water demand, adhesion, and sag resistance—ensuring a more stable and easy-to-apply plaster mixture.

How DoesHPS Work in Gypsum Plaster?

HPS works by forming a stable colloidal network when dissolved in water.
This network interacts with gypsum particles and other components in the plaster to:

  • Improve water retention, keeping the mix workable for a longer period.
  • Enhance viscosity, which prevents segregation and improves spreadability.
  • Stabilize the mixture, reducing bleeding and ensuring uniform consistency.
  • Modify setting time, giving workers more flexibility during application.
  • Enhance adhesion, helping the plaster bond firmly to substrates such as brick, concrete, or blockwork.

By improving these key physical properties, HPS ensures that the plaster remains smooth, durable,
and easy to work with—both for manual and machine applications.

Recommended HPS Products

For gypsum plaster applications, we recommend the following HPS grades:

hps-s301

HPS S301

Balanced viscosity and water retention, suitable for standard gypsum plaster.

HPS
hps-s600

HPS S600

High viscosity and improved workability, ideal for machine-applied or high-performance formulations.

HPS

HPS S1000

Enhanced viscosity, ensuring better bonding.
